Ok, so let’s talk about Book #2 in The Wedding Date Series. I was really excited for this book since I enjoyed reading the first book. It started at a Dodgers game where we are introduced to Nikole (aka Nik). She is attending a game with her then boyfriend who decides to propose to her after they had only been dating for like 5 months. She rejects him and things start to go downhill from there. Luckily for her, Carlos (from Book #1, Drew’s friend/co-worker) is watching everything go down with his sister. They decide to go in and save Nik from all the cameras that started to swarm around her after the incident. From here, you can pretty much visualize a predictable story.
We never really get much background on Nik’s ex besides the fact that he had a man bun, he was a jerk and he had no idea how to spell her name *eye roll*. Anywho, Nik and Carlos eventually become really good friends and start to hang out with each other during their free time. One things leads to another and suddenly their platonic relationship turns into a sexual one. Both decided that their relationship wouldn’t be anymore than just that, sexual. The most annoying part was them denying the true feelings they had for each other, instead of just being honest with each other. It felt really high school-ish to me.
After this, I felt a lot of the story was rushed. Just like the first book, Carlos and Nik get into an argument and stop speaking to each other just to make up in the end (predictable lol). Other than that, I really love how close-knit Carlos and his family was. I loved Nik’s friends, they were amazing and showed what true friendships really looked like. I also enjoyed the amount of diversity in the book as well.
I will be continuing the series for now since I am not completely checked out yet. So stay tuned for the review on Book #3.
So tell me, have you read this book? What were your thoughts on the book?
