Growing up in dive bars up and down the East Coast, Toni Bennette’s guitar was her only companion…until she met Sebastian Quick. Seb was a little older, a lot wiser, and before long he was Toni’s way out, promising they’d escape their stifling small town together. Then Seb turned 18 and split without looking back.
Now, Toni’s all grown up and making a name for herself in Philadelphia’s indie scene. When a friend suggests she try out for a hot new up-and-coming band, Toni decides to take a chance. Strong, feminist, and fierce as fire, Toni B. and the Lillys are the perfect match…except Seb’s now moonlighting as their manager. Whatever. Toni can handle it. No problem. Or it wouldn’t be if Seb didn’t still hold a piece of her heart…not to mention the key to her future.

I thought this book was pretty amazing. I love the representation of strong women throughout this book & I personally felt connected to the characters in this book.
Toni had a rough childhood. Her mom dropped her off in the middle of Pennsylvania all alone to go live with her father while she continued to pursue her dreams of being a star. After going to live with her dad, he didn’t seem to give much though, almost as if he didn’t want her around. Growing up, her sense of happiness came from her friend Sebastian her loved music just as much as she did. Of course that friendship didn’t last long once Sebastian left her when they were older. He left her without a word and took half of the money they saved up together with him.
While all the characters in this book are important, I believe Toni is the most important character. This IS her story. This is her road to fame, growing up & finding herself, and dealing with her past traumas. The women in this book is what really made this story for me & I almost wanted to meet them in person lol.
While the Romance in this book was good, I personally feel that it wasn’t needed. But it was nice to see Toni & Sebastian work out their issues and grow past them.
