The Hunting Wives share more than target practice, martinis, and bad behavior in this novel of obsession, seduction, and murder.
Sophie O’Neill left behind an envy-inspiring career and the stressful, competitive life of big-city Chicago to settle down with her husband and young son in a small Texas town. It seems like the perfect life with a beautiful home in an idyllic rural community. But Sophie soon realizes that life is now too quiet, and she’s feeling bored and restless.
Then she meets Margot Banks, an alluring socialite who is part of an elite clique secretly known as the Hunting Wives. Sophie finds herself completely drawn to Margot and swept into her mysterious world of late-night target practice and dangerous partying. As Sophie’s curiosity gives way to full-blown obsession, she slips farther away from the safety of her family and deeper into this nest of vipers.
When the body of a teenage girl is discovered in the woods where the Hunting Wives meet, Sophie finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation and her life spiraling out of control.

So this was a pretty interesting read. Like most people have mentioned, this book was like a version of Mean Girls, but with older women. I liked how fast paced this book was. There were really short chapters, which personally I find makes it easier to get through a book faster.

I don’t think I found any relation to any of the characters in this book, but this was still a pretty good read for me. Sophie really got on my nerves lol. I just don’t understand how many bad decisions you have to make to get it together. She obsessive over Margot and because she had that obsession she continued to make bad decisions because of it. Since Sophie is the main character and I didn’t like her at all, was probably one of the main things that I didn’t like about this book. Other than that, the book was enjoyable.

There is a lot of drama and all the wives are just a hot mess lol. I felt like I was watching a reality TV show in the form of a book. The only thing that separated this from reality TV was murder. Many people said they caught on to who did it towards the middle of the book. Maybe there was something that I missed, but I didn’t catch it until the end, so it was still a shocker for me.

My Rating:

Have you read The Hunting Wives? What were your thoughts?
