overview
When legendary R&B artist Korey Fields spots Enchanted Jones at an audition, her dreams of being a famous singer take flight. Until Enchanted wakes up with blood on her hands and zero memory of the previous night. Who killed Korey Fields?
Before there was a dead body, Enchanted’s dreams had turned into a nightmare. Because behind Korey’s charm and star power was a controlling dark side. Now he’s dead, the police are at the door, and all signs point to Enchanted.

This book was amazing and very much needed. Enchanted had a dream of becoming a famous singer and one man (Korey Fields) who had the power to make her dreams come true, decided to use his power to manipulate and abuse her.

While I’ve never personally been through this or known someone who has gone through this, I can relate to the fact that as teenagers, we tend to think that we are “grown” when we are still kids. Some kids a forced to grow up a lot faster than others because of the responsibilities they have. They are automatically labeled as “mature for their age”. Some teens are also more vulnerable and easily manipulated.

Korey Fields comes into Enchanted’s life knowing what her dream is and using that to reel her in. Of course because I am older, I saw the grooming that Korey was doing from the start. Enchanted felt so much for Korey, that she felt she had to defend and protect him instead of protecting herself. Even when she thought to protect herself, he would manipulate her words and use what she loved against her so she wouldn’t try to.

This book can be very triggering and I can appreciate the content warning in the beginning of the book. It was written brilliantly and honestly, I’m already looking into other books that Tiffany D. Jackson has written!!
