overview
Eve, Justin, Susie, and Ed have been friends since they were teenagers. Now in their thirties, the four are as close as ever, Thursday night bar trivia is sacred, and Eve is still secretly in love with Ed. Maybe she should have moved on by now, but she can’t stop thinking about what could have been. And she knows Ed still thinks about it, too.
But then, in an instant, their lives are changed forever.
In the aftermath, Eve’s world is upended. As stunning secrets are revealed, she begins to wonder if she really knew her friends as well as she thought. And when someone from the past comes back into her life, Eve’s future veers in a surprising new direction…
They say every love story starts with a single moment. What if it was just last night?

So, I went into Just Last Night expecting a romance with some humor. A rom-com basically. I read a lot of reviews that focused on the romance and even people saying that the book was a rom-com. However, it was the opposite of what I was expecting.

While there was romance aspects in this book. I felt that this book was more about grief, friendship and loss. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but when I go into a book expecting one thing and get the opposite it ruins the book for me. Taking all expectations out the equation, this was still a good book.

The characters and the plot are very realistic, which is something that I can appreciate. This book can be very hard hitting for some. I wasn’t expecting a sad story, so it was rough to get through and since that was most of the book, I kind of got bored with it.

I think these thoughts are due to what my expectations were versus what the book actually was. Maybe I’ll pick this book up and read it again in the future and change my thoughts.

My Rating:

3 star
