Piper hasn’t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won’t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. So what if Piper can’t do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives. How bad could it really be? She’s determined to show her stepfather—and the hot, grumpy local—that she’s more than a pretty face.
Except it’s a small town and everywhere she turns, she bumps into Brendan. The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there’s an undeniable attraction simmering between them. Piper doesn’t want any distractions, especially feelings for a man who sails off into the sunset for weeks at a time. Yet as she reconnects with her past and begins to feel at home in Westport, Piper starts to wonder if the cold, glamorous life she knew is what she truly wants. LA is calling her name, but Brendan—and this town full of memories—may have already caught her heart.

First things first, what made me want to read this novel, honestly, was the hype of it. All I’ve up until this point were good reviews about how good the book was and how everyone could not wait until the next book in the Series dropped. So naturally, I gravitated towards the hype, because I love a good book and it gave me a reason to give a romance novel a chance.
So, this books starts off with Piper getting dumped. Since Piper is the popular girl she feels she needs to protect her reputation because getting dumped in embarrassing. She decided to throw a party that involves breaking into a hotel pool, but she ends up finding herself in some trouble because of this. Once her stepfather catches wind of her shenanigans, he sends her to work at this dive bar that was owned by her father.
During Piper’s journey, you see her grow. You see her find a sense of independence and confidence. And Brendan, Brendan was the sweetest lol. I enjoyed this book and there wasn’t too much cringe that made me wish it was over. Typically romance books become very repetitive to me, but this book kept my interest. I do plan to read book 2 in this series, so hopefully it lives up to be just as good (or better lol).
