Breaking: #CafeBae and #CuteCafeGirl went to the bathroom AT THE SAME TIME!!!
One minute, Katrina King’s enjoying an innocent conversation with a random guy at a coffee shop; the next, a stranger has live-tweeted the entire encounter with a romantic meet-cute spin and #CafeBae has the world swooning. Going viral isn’t easy for anyone, but Katrina has painstakingly built a private world for herself, far from her traumatic past. Besides, everyone has it all wrong…that #CafeBae bro? He isn’t the man she’s hungry for.
He’s got a <peach emoji> to die for.
With the internet on the hunt for the identity of #CuteCafeGirl, Jas Singh, bodyguard and possessor of the most beautiful eyebrows Katrina’s ever seen, offers his family’s farm as a refuge. Alone with her unrequited crush feels like a recipe for hopeless longing, but Katrina craves the escape. She’s resigned to being just friends with Jas–until they share a single electrifying kiss. Now she can’t help but wonder if her crush may not be so unrequited after all…(Amazon)

This book is about a bodyguard (Jasvinder) and the woman he paid to look after (Katrina). I always feel like tropes like these are extremely predictable. Of course if a romance book focuses on two characters, 9 times out of 10, they will fall in love and live happily ever after.
Katrina struggles with trauma from her abusive father. When she was in her mid twenties, she married a man who was older and wealthy. She did this as an escape from her trauma. we find out that her husband had been deceased for 6 years. Jas is Katrina’s late husband’s nephew who decided to become a bodyguard after the military.
Honestly I felt like there was a lot going on within the story. Romances can be predictable, so to have a lot going on with lack luster narrative, it can lose the attention of the reader. There’s one more book in this series that I am currently reading. I may take a break from romances after this, but we shall see. I don’t think my attention span for them is there to really appreciate them, so I’m thinking a break is what I may need.
My Rating:

Have you read Girl Gone Viral? What were your thoughts?
